How long will all of this last? I guess my biggest issue with this form of art is its lack of permanentness. Unlike a painting, it won’t last forever. I think part of the reason painting has survived for centuries is because it is such a simple process; you get a canvas, a paintbrush, some paint, and go to work.
Wagner believed that the combination of music, song, dance, poetry, visual art, and stagecraft could create the Total Artwork, a supreme form of expression. That was back in 1849. In modern times, we can use computers and other modern technology to create our own new Total Artworks; for example professor Packer’s Mori meshes audio technology with geographic technology and puts them together in a set that viewers walk through. So obviously the idea has lasted, and has turned into a style. That style has just morphed over the ages too keep up wth the times, and it's not just a phase.
